Civil and Divorce Conflicts

Conflict is pain. Conflict consumes time and energy. It demands your attention, taking you away from the more enjoyable things in life. Conflict resolution through the court system can be expensive and can take years.
As a R.1:40 Approved Civil Mediator, helping to find a swift, creative solution to the problem is what I do. I find creative solutions to conflict that allow both sides to return to the business of life.
Through decades of litigation experience I developed the ability to identify the real issues, the points of disagreement and, importantly, the areas of agreement that can be the foundation of a resolution. That unique skill enables me to ensure everyone is heard and understood so that, with my help, the parties can forge a creative solution, saving both time and money.

As a trained divorce/family mediator, my responsibility to the participants is to help you make progress through the stressful maze of issues that accompany a divorce, ultimately resulting in a path toward a final resolution.
Our process helps reduce the anxiety that often is felt by the participants while keeping the participants on a path toward resolution. It is designed to minimize the time to resolution and the costs in reaching a resolution.
The process starts with the participants understanding that divorce mediation is a voluntary, collaborative process where the participants are in control, not a judge. Privacy and flexibility are features, allowing the participants to reach decisions through mutual agreement rather than through a court order.

If a voluntary resolution to the conflict through mediation is not feasible, there is another option available to the parties.
Arbitration is similar to mediation because the parties have the same opportunity to be heard and understood. Arbitration differs from mediation, however, because the parties have agreed to have a neutral third party like LL3 ADR decide the outcome of the conflict and to be bound by that outcome.
The benefits of arbitration over litigation are the same as mediation -- time and money. The added benefit to arbitration is finality. Just as a trial in court years later would provide finality, when parties agree to arbitrate their conflict, they are assured of a decision in the matter.
